A Squiggle Finds a Home - A Marfa Story
For the last 5 years I have stared at the squiggle floor more than any other nft collection.. since this was a piece of art the aesthetics had to be perfect.. after all the purpose of owning it was not only its story but its appearance.. or so I thought.. Flash forward to last month at my first @artblocks_io Marfa.. an event I have wanted to attend for years but took until now to make happen.. That feeling changed.. It was no longer just a piece of art & art history that I wanted to own a part of, but the representation of a community & movement I took far too long realizing I belonged to.
I still have a hard time describing that weekend to people in a way that doesn’t make it sound like I joined a cult.. @ArtOnBlockchain has created something that is impossible to explain and must be felt to understand.. as it were..
I came home with a new found vigor in my mission to finally obtain a squiggle & lower my aesthetic standards since now this was representing a community, not just a piece of art or the story of its creation..
I spent the next few weeks staring at the floor & placing offers.. but none spoke to me, & I fell back into my old indecision about color, spread and amplitude.. Until last night. Staring back at me when I opened my screen was squiggle #7971 which was not only the literal floor token, but by far the most aligned with my desires out of all those I have debated over the years.. I quickly put in an offer because I have strict no fomo rules about purchases, until I showed my partner and he looked at me & said ‘you didnt buy it already? That’s the best one you’ve ever shown me, won’t you regret if it sells?’
Touché.
Welcome home #7971. I chose to buy it from my OG minting wallet from 2021 to close the loop of the first collection I felt attracted to in the space back then but never obtained until now. Oddly enough I used that address by mistake when registering for Marfa and it is where my friendship bracelet was minted.. an accidental if not poetic mistake. I will be moving them both over to my main proceededwithcaution.eth wallet shortly to live with the rest of my long term collections (predominantly @DesLucrece pieces), but felt it needed the provenance of going through that wallet on its way home.
Oh.. If we met in Marfa this year it’s because I was the meat bag behind the camera turning you into a @PixelmixNFT Flower of Marfa. If I did so and you have yet to enter your eth address via the QR code.. please do so asap so @thisismycrypto3 can airdrop you the community edition of the finished artwork.. if the QR code isn't working or you lost it, dm me and we'll work it out.
Cannot wait until Marfa 2026.
