Miden은 블록체인의 계산을 네트워크가 아닌 사용자의 기기에서 먼저 처리하도록 만들어 속도와 효율을 높이려는 프로젝트입니다. 기존에는 모든 노드가 같은 트랜잭션을 반복 계산해 병목이 생겼지만, Miden에서는 사용자가 먼저 계산하고 이 계산이 맞다는 증명만 체인에 제출하는 방식으로 부담을 줄이죠.
또한 계정 상태를 체인이 보관하는 대신 사용자가 직접 자신의 기기에서 관리하는 구조를 채택합니다. 체인은 전체 상태를 들고 있지 않고, 사용자가 필요할 때만 상태가 유효하다는 증명을 제출하기 때문에 정보가 기본적으로 공개되지 않는 구조입니다.
이 설계는 자연스럽게 프라이버시를 강화하는데, 계산 과정과 상태 데이터가 사용자 기기에 머물기 때문에 누가 어떤 거래를 했는지 추적하기 어려워지고, 기존 퍼블릭 체인처럼 모든 정보가 드러나는 문제를 피할 수 있습니다.
결과적으로 Miden은 블록체인의 중심을 네트워크에서 사용자로 옮기는 새로운 모델을 제시합니다. 네트워크는 증명만 확인해 최소한의 역할을 하고, 실행/상태/프라이버시는 사용자가 스스로 책임지는 구조로 확장성과 안정성을 동시에 얻으려는 시도라고 보면 되겠네요.
