How to Go Long on X-Perps
Going long on X-Perps (Expiry Perps) means opening a position that profits if the price of an asset rises. This guide provides information on how to open a long position on OKX. How to open a long position on desktop
Navigate to the X-Perps trading interface
Select the market you want to trade; for example, BTC
In the order panel, set your leverage using the leverage selector
Select your order type, limit or market
Enter your position size or margin amount
Set a take-profit and stop-loss: TP/SL can be set in the order panel before confirming
Click Buy / Long to open the position
Confirm the order details and submit

Open the OKX app and navigate to X-Perps
Select your market
Tap the order panel and set your leverage
Select limit or market order
Enter your position size
Set a take-profit and stop-loss
Tap Buy / Long and confirm
What to check before confirming
Before submitting a long position, review:
Your leverage setting and the resulting liquidation price
Your stop-loss level: This limits how much you can lose if the price falls
The current funding rate: If positive, you will pay funding at each 8-hour interval while the position is open
Your available margin and margin mode
Pro Tip: A long position profits when the price rises but loses when the price falls. Both outcomes are amplified by your leverage level. Make sure your stop-loss reflects the maximum loss you are prepared to accept.
