Form 1099-DA is a new IRS tax form for digital asset brokers. Eventually, you're asked to pay "taxes", "fees", or "verification charges" to release your funds. These payments go directly to the scammer, and withdrawals are never permitted. Note: if someone you've never met in person is directing you to move funds on OKX or any other platform, stop immediately and contact OKX Assistant. For example, someone on Instagram gets a message from a stranger. The message says they can earn money by voting on ads for car companies. We don't hold onto cash or freeze any payments from the buyer as the payment is made offline — from card to card (or from wallet to wallet). It's technically impossible for us to hold to payments made outside of the OKX platform. We'll release the crypto to the buyer's account after the seller confirms the payment has been received and selects the Release Crypto option.2. I sent a payment to someone but they didn't accept it. What happens next? If the recipient doesn't have a pay account, they'll have 48 hours to create one to accept the payment. If the recipient doesn't accept the payment within 48 hours, the funds will be returned to the sender's Pay account.
